Well it's been quite hectic these past few months, but finally the end is in sight. Christmas break is coming up, and I don't think I could possibly be more ready for it to come. I really, really need to go home right now. Italy is great and everything, but I'm really missing my country right now, as screwed up as it is, and I've had just about all I can take of schoolwork and stressful travelling schedules. I've had to pack and unpack bags twice already just in the past week or two.
Art wise, I've been making some huge improvements behind the scenes; most notably I've started learning the Andrew Loomis model of figure-drawing, and I can actually draw an idealistic human figure in the proper proportions now. (As for faces though, I'll still have to work on those.
) Not as if I can do it perfectly or anything, but at least I can draw something that actually resembles a human body. I've also made some big leaps forward in perspective and foreshortening. My color theory is still pretty poor though, as I haven't had as much opportunity to practice working with colors, since my only method of creating colored art right now is on the computer.
I don't think I mentioned it here yet, but I dropped my external hard drive two weeks ago and it stopped working. So I just lost about 600 GB of the past year of my "digital life", as it were. It's hit me really hard and I can hardly even bear to use my laptop now because of the huge hole that has been left behind. I'd been collecting wallpapers and anime pictures for years, I had countless games / programs that will be difficult to download / install again, and not to mention the past 3-4 years of digital artwork and music that I had on there. Or the photos that date back to when I was in high school. There's still some hope that I might be able to recover some of this data, but I won't know until I go home. So in the meantime, I'm left hanging. I'd heard lots of stories about data loss, but it had never actually happened to me before so I guess I got careless... I really should've kept backups.
Anyhow, greetings to anyone who has newly discovered my meager little page here. I know that most of the stuff in the gallery is really old and quite terrible, but hopefully that will change soon as I get a chance to devote some quality time to artwork this winter.
And that's about all I have to say. Hopefully things will look up from here.
